Bal Sanskar Shivir-2023: Instilling values in kids

Between December 24th and 30th, 2023, the tranquil Braj Gopika Dham in Tangi, Odisha, echoed with the delightful echoes of education, mirth, and spiritual discovery. Over 250 youngsters, aged 15 and below, participated in a transformative experience at the Bal Sanskar Shivir—a week-long initiative fostering holistic growth and instilling virtues of character and devotion.

Learning, Re-defined

The Shivir centered around the renowned couplet from the magnum opus, Radha Govind Geet:

बाल्यावस्था ते ही गोविंद राधे।

कृष्णभक्ति प्रारम्भ कर दे बता दे ॥

(Jagadguru Swami Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj)

An intelligent individual should embrace the path of devotion from early childhood, relinquishing all other pursuits. Human life, though transient, is a rare gift, providing the opportunity for devotional service, leading to profound perfection with even modest efforts.

Each day's schedule was carefully designed, blending spiritual enlightenment, intellectual stimulation, and physical activity. Mornings began with Arti and Kirtan sessions, immersing children in devotional rhythms and setting a mindful tone. Energizing Yoga and Zumba sessions fostered camaraderie.

Sadhaks and Sadhikas from the Ashram led engaging sessions, exploring Vedic mathematics, life skills, and moral values interactively. Vedic math transformed numbers into a captivating game, while life skills lessons offered practical wisdom. Thoughtfully curated videos, infused with humor and moral lessons, left a lasting impact on young minds.

Diving deep into spirituality

The core of the Shivir revealed itself in sessions led by Revered Raseshwari Devi Ji (Maa) and Swami Yugal Sharan Ji (Baba). Mornings and afternoons were enriched by their divine presence, engaging children with melodious kirtans, enlightening Q&A sessions, and personal moments of connection. These interactions served as a platform for the children to enhance their faith, freely inquire, and bask in the unconditional love and guidance of their spiritual mentors.

Life skills

The Shivir's influence transcended formal sessions, subtly shaping the children's daily lives and holistic wellness. Parents observed a notable shift as their children adopted positive habits such as early rising, personal hygiene, and gratitude for sustenance and surroundings. Activities, geared toward teamwork and leadership development, instilled a genuine sense of Seva – selfless service towards both the divine and the community.

Faith, Friendship, and Life Values

As the Shivir concluded, a tangible sense of love and community reverberated among the children. They had established a profound connection with their faith, formed meaningful friendships, and grasped the importance of leading a life grounded in good values and selfless service. Tearful farewells marked by joy and gratitude left an enduring impression on their hearts and minds.

The Braj Gopika Dham Bal Sanskar Shivir transcended a mere program; it became a enriching journey fostering the intellectual, spiritual, and social growth of young minds. Providing a secure space for exploration, cultivating a sense of belonging, and imparting valuable life skills, it undoubtedly equips the children for their future journeys. The echoes of their laughter and devotional chants will forever resonate in the tranquil Dham, serving as a testament to the transformative influence of love, devotion, and community.
